yea i agree with graeme. there are far better forums so to speak if you want tech support. this community isn't big enough to really have a complete DIY area. so its gonna be spotty stuff.
go to audizine/world, or vortex and they have hundreds of thousands of members, and some VERY mechanically sound individuals who can walk you through things. they also pick apart and comment on ways of doing things, which is often more helpful than the first write up as it continually improves

so maybe just a sticky thread that has links in each section vw/audi/.....
that way the resources are handy, sometimes we (new users/owners) forget how to search or don't know all the websites
          put.......put.......

this pretty much closes the argument.

Re: Who thinks a do it yourself section would be good?

on that same note though I think the local community has a lot to offer in terms of DIY, and a lot of guys have read the tex, audizine DIY etc and have taken points from all of them and may have determined the best way to do them. Tex and such are fine but they are almost too big and you can spend hours trying to track down a DIY that doesn't have all dead photo links which 70% of the tex ones seem to have.

Really in the end its the webmaster's choice, its this person that has to do the work, so if they don't think its reasonable then it doesn't fly

if you're looking to have your hand held, take your car to the dealer. if youre going to do it yourself do your homework which includes spending some time reading

I'm glad to see so much chatter on this topic. I'd like to point out a few of my motives. The DYI section, again, would add a little more depth to the site, and possibly draw new members. I really don't see it as a hand holding section, rather a better way of networking, regardless of make/model, to strengthen and grow our community.
And lastly, more members...more stickers Blair can have made and hand out at larger meets! LOL

you want a DIY section then start adding DIY stuff to either the VW or Audi section. theres nothing stopping you from doing it currently.
theres barely enough movement on this forum as it is given how many subsections there are. you're just gonna further dilute the content.

no offense but if you are trying to come across condescending that is pretty lame, no one is looking to have their hand held but DIYs are the whole reason forums were started, to discuss ways of doing things and disseminate info.

Or if you don't like the idea you could stop shitting in everyones cornflakes. No one is going to force you to contribute. Hell even a DIY section with links to other DIY's that people have tried so others can discuss would be helpful.
