Maybe it's blow by and now require a bottom end? Pull the dipstick out put a ballon over it and rev the engine,if it starts inflating and the vent is clear it's engine time.Originally posted by stefan View PostComment

One more for the list - My Homelink unit keeps forgetting how to open my garage door. Homelink tech support says the symptoms point to a problem with the device; it isn't processing rolling codes properly. VW says it may not be warranty and are looking in to it. I'm not sure why it wouldn't be warranty. If other buttons or switches in the car fail to perform their task, it's generally covered.Stefan

I fixed it a while back. Check out this thread. The homelink unit is a pretty common model, and easy to swap (suggest not doing it in the cold as there are tabs that may break...)Stefan
