    That's weird, I've had my egr deleted since last July, how is it asking for trouble specifically to the PD motors? I haven't had any issues, nor have I heard of that on tdi club... The only thing is the law I suppose.

      Not to much the cooler in the egr that will help but the shutter valve. Anything to help stop the motor in any little way in the case of runaway is a help.

        Ahhhh, now I'm pickin up what your puttin down. Brent is correct on that one. My anti shudder valve it still intact, but a full egr delete w/ race pipe on a PD will eliminate it.

          damnit - this problem seems like it will go on forever. Brought car back for an oil change and a couple leaky gaskets (ones that were just done in services mentioned above) - no big deal really, easy fix. Unfortunately some bolts broke. I guess **** happens, but the combination of a leaky gasket an bolts that are seized after ~10,000km sure seems to point to overtightened bolts, which is a little disappointing.

          Anyways, phone just rang and it's fixed. Sure glad for warranty. Thanks SCFC.

              Is the valve cover on this car notorious for leaking, or is it just mine? The new one I just had installed is showing signs of a leak again. I wiped it all clean, and checked a week later and there is definitely some oil collecting. Going back in to shop for another repair.

                Northlands did mine 2x in 2 years Stefan...its actually 1 peice, the valve cover and gasket...and I've heard of some shops trying to reuse it...resulting in repeated leaks.

                  Fairly sure they didn't reuse anything. Maybe just bad luck then. It could be working its way from somewhere else, but I'm fairly sure its the cover.

                      LOL...thats what I said to Roger, George's cousin that worked at Northlands, about my 05 Golf TDI...he laughed and said...thats what EVERYONE says...Roger did over 5k warranty work on ours in 2 years...and I know guys that have been problem free.

                                scfc but some dye in the oil and cleaned the engine to find the leak. It's going back Friday to solve the problem. I looked at it today though, and I'm fairly sure it's not at all the head gasket this time, its the vent line that leaves the top of the valve cover. My bet would be its a little stretched after removing it so many times for other fixes.
