If the two key trick doesn't work I do have a adapter that can pull out your SKC but to be honest I haven't used it yet lol

Does the red led light still work on the key fob?

yet you indiscriminately buy parts and items that you don't need?

              doesn't vag-tacho pull a 4 digit skc, and ross-tech's SW needs a 6digit skc
just going by memory, I'm probably wrong

I have family in town this weekend so I don't have time. Man I haven't even installed the software yet, I will look into it and get back to you.

Re: I need to reprogram my key

I used to have an Ebay Vag Tacho, till I fried the cable pluging it into a car with an incorrectly wired radio. Worked great on a '00 GTI and programmed the new FOB. You don't need a vag-com cable as the Vag Tacho software will tell you the SKC, and give you the option to program the key. Took a few minutes to connect at first, but seconds to program.

Re: I need to reprogram my key

Have you talked to the PO yet? how well do you know the person? Have you had a background check done at AMA etc. on the car (carfax isn't as in depth).

I duno, could just be paranoid, but having a car where the door and ignition keys don't match and a person making no mention of this kinda sounds sketchy.

If you can't get a hold of someone with a VAG I don't think the dealer charges much for programming

                      hope it works out!

edit: have you tried your key in the hatch???? sounds ghetto but if your key will work in the hatch you could get into the car from there. And then can't you just lock the car from the passenger side???

Re: I need to reprogram my key

Hardware only works with the right software, not vag-com.
