Winter Tireso

Hey guys, just have a question for you. I was about to buy a set of tires for my MK4 golf today. Tire size was 215/65/15 and the bolt pattern was 5x100. when i went to try them on, then bolts didn't match up at all. I'm trying to figure out why that is. I didn't think that the tire size would make a difference. I figured that as long as it was the same bolt pattern and the tires would clear, I was good...apparently I was wrong.
Just trying to get some knowledge on the topic. Thanks

x2, or the hub size on the wheel was larger than the hub on the car causing it to sit lower than it should when you are putting it on.

215/65r15 is two sizes too big for an mk4 also...

yeah i guess that's what it must have been. the guy said he was certain they were 5x100 before but i guess you can't trust everything everyone tells you... on that note, if any of you know of some winters for sale..let me know please. thanks again
