  • help with 99 golf vr6

iv been having enough electrical problems and its killing me since i dont know much about it..

i guess i blew a fuse because my power locks and sunroof dont work but power windows do :S

i checked the fuses and there was only 1 that was blown and i fixed it but still nothing..

but my main problem is i took out the battery to get to my power fuse for my system then when i went to hook up the battery again and open my door the alarm goes off... personally i didnt even know there was an alarm lol but yea.. everytime i open the door the alarm just keeps going off and wont stop i cant use the key to unlock the doors cuz the power locks are not working aswell so i was wondering if anyone knew how to fix this or if i can just rip out the car alarm? please i cant even drive my car right now and i dunno what to do so if you could give me advice i would appreciate it

The wire harnesses that go to the doors suck in those cars (i have one). Pull back the rubber sleeve between the door and car and look at wires. There are likely some cracked ones...

Alarm is built in. You can pull the wires off the horn though but it still doesn't fix the problem. Like Stefan said it is likely the door harnesses.

Turning the key in the door also disarms the factory alarm.

problem could be that that is the wiring that is damaged.

the door locks are vacuum/pressure actuated. If it isn't the power to the switch, I guess the pump thing for this could be the issue. Is there any clicks or noises when you hit the lock switch?

I opened up the rubber sleeve on one door on my mk3 last night looking for a window power issue, and there were 2 badly frayed wires in there.

Pretty sure all mkIV's have electric motors for door locks. At least every one I have worked on.

                is this 99 (mk3) or 99.5 (mk4)?
                I just assumed mk3
