  • Car Malfunctioning

    Hey guys,

    Got two questions here...

So I was driving home Saturday night and all of a sudden my car (09 DSG GTI) started jerking really hard (someone will joke about it haha) for 2-3 seconds. Any idea what it could have been? Only reason I can think of is the Mechatronic unit or the DSG? I got the Malfunction light on the dash the next day.

Secondly, I now gotta take it into the Dealership to check it out (due for an oil change pretty soon also). Based on anyone's personal experience, should I take it to Northland VW or 5th Ave? Both are probably hard on the modded cars, but the only mod I have is an Intake and I heard Northland VW is pretty anal about the modded cars. Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Northland never bugged me about my intake and exhaust for warranty work.

I would never recommend northland for anything, ever.

      Go to fifth avenue auto.

Did it throw any engine codes?

Mines been bucking violently (2004.5 gli), we traced it to the crank position sensor, so far.

Tunedub is booked for the next 2 weeks so that's a no go.

Thanks! I am more leaning towards 5th Ave, As for codes, no codes as far as I know...don't have VAG COM to scan, just a Malfunction light on the dash that came up. It kinda seems like i've lost some power too.

oh noes ... for the MIL to come on a code has to be thrown, scan it and you'll get a code.

I would also caution on a car still under warranty not to be running a "CAI" in this weather there is no way a dealership will cover you if you hydrolock it

**** NORTHLAND. They denied me a warranty on a coilpack because I put non-oem plugs in the day before to see if it would solve misfires. I left them in, and they kicked up a stink. To which I say I changed the coilpack in their parking lot, and Voila! Problem solved.
