  • Getting rid of Oil

Can anyone help me out with some ideas on how to remove oil off the side of my car?
The city here in Med Hat likes to leave huge lakes of it on the ground before they pave and well as you can see no matter how slow you drive the side of my car is covered now.
I spent $15 at the car was this morning with very little luck on removing it.

Maybe some bug and tar remover? Either way looks like a pain in the ass to remove

i believe dawn donates their grease removing soap to animal recovery operations to get oil off of wild animals. this could possibly work?

anyone know if dish soap is harmful on car paint? i'm not a chemist.

this one popped up on the bottom of the page when I clicked the above link. Looks like it may also be suitable.

Dish soap will remove car wax too. You should seal and wax it right after dish soap.

                    Re: Getting rid of Oil

Want to know what else would take that off, real cheap and found in many places. I wouldn't leave it on paint, but diesel would pull that stuff off as well. When I have to clean the asphalt equipment that is what is recommended and works best. Wouldn't leave it on the paint, but the simple green is typically an alkaline which if left to long on the paint is really bad.
Some diesel with a spray bottle, then was with car soap right after is probably the best unless you know a VW detailer.....
