  • 1994 Eurovan CV - Auxiliary Fans

Quick question for the Eurovan guys. If I turn on the air conditioning, the auxiliary fans immediately kick in on low speed. This makes sense. They don't operate unless the A/C is turned on. I presume this is normal functioning? There seem to be a lot of problems with the resistors and the fans themselves.

Also, any idea what the relays do that are located in the engine bay right behind the driver's side headlight. The Bentley is not exactly user friendly for this particular vehicle. Might be better to get the CD I suppose.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes the low speed only comes on with A/C. If your fans sound like mine they sound like a bat out of hell at high speed (funny when going through drivethroughs). I just had to replace the resistors on mine, they are crap. I really need to design some new ones one of these days. As for the relays they are likely for the fans. I am not sure if my bently covers your year but I will take a look.
If you have any more questions be sure to ask. Also VWSM (Paul) knows more about Eurovans then anyone I have ever come acrioss.

Thanks Brent. I was able to see one of the resistors under the battery. Do you know where the second one is located? Since there are two fans, I presume that there would be one additional resistor.

I believe on the old models there is one under each headlight and on the new models both are right under the rad fans on the inside of the bumper (that is where mine are).

Thanks Brent. That's what I read. The newer T4s have the resisters under the bumper. I will have to dig around the other headlight. Might try to put the radiator into the service position so that you can see a little more. I have the two volume paper Bentley and they don't have an index at the back so it is a real pain.

Don't you have to tilt that rad forward to do anything? Sure as hell seems like it to me

Have never tried before! It has really low kms. Do you just unbolt some screws and slide it up?
