  • Throttle Body Cleaner

Hi, had my MAF off last night and while it was off looked at my throttle body and it was super dirty looking. I went to NAPA today and all they had for throttle body cleaner was Kleen-Flo Air Intake Kleen. Has anyone used this and to what effect?

    Thanks.

unless it's sticking, there is no real reason to clean it. i mean, it sure the heck won't hurt.

when i clean mine, i just use brake clean. Spray, and rub all the grime with a paper towel.

That intake cleaner will do the job just fine. I have used it before and it does the job

If you really wanted I can get a cleaner made strictly for throttle bodies

I did the same thing as DJ, sprayed some brake kleen on a paper towel and it worked great.

do you guys pull the tb off to do it, I think a lot of people don't but I wouldn't want to dislodge any grime and have it sucked into the engine. I may just be neurotic about that kind of thing but it doesn't sit well with me haha.

I usually clean it up with the cleaner sprayed directly on the cloth. Some tb take a few mins to take off others a little more, so sometimes its worth it. I also wouldn't recommend spraying its directly into the engine.
