  • Steering Feel / Response

Hi. What, if anything, can a guy do to improve the steering feel / response on a mkiv GTI? I find that once in a turn it feels and responds ok but when initializing a turn or switching directions feels delayed and over boosted.

    Thanks.

    Re: Steering Feel / Response

There are a few things to do. An custom alignment can change response time in turn-in but will sacrifice straight line stability a touch. Another thing is poly bushings in all steering components and subframe. Like the control arm bushings, a thicker sway bar and poly sway bar bushings, an upper strut brace etc., etc. But before all of this, better suspension.

I have to agree with vee dubbin although I'd say start with a rear sway bar, then suspension, then the other things on his list.

Bushings and sway bar. Change your tire pressure.
