  • Parting out an Audi TT s-line.. Few questions

Hey guys. Here's the story. My neighbor has an 04 Audi TT S-line. He bought it about 2-3 years ago, and has been driving it around with a dealer plate. He went to try to sell it, and found out it had a non repairable title. It runs/drives perfect. Has 45k. Its an Edmonton car.

He asked me to help him out. Should he part it out? is there any value to it the way it sits? its in amazing shape inside/out. black leather. auto. non convertible. and it has the 3.2L motor.

oh, the reason it has an NR title is because it was written off by the insurance company about 2-3 years ago (Flood) he got it cleaned, and detailed and has been driving it since.

    thanks!

Why isn't it a rebuilt status then?

Can't he get request for salvage inspection from a registry then got get an inspection done so he can get it registered?

in alberta, any cars written off because of water or fire are titled 'non repairable'
He bought the car knowing what was wrong, but didnt do any research with the title. He had it all done at the dealer when he first bought it. (ouch!)

if it gets parted out, itll be me doing it. as he doesnt want to go that route.
          whats the drivetrain worth?
i did a carproof on it, so i see the history of the car.
          has 47,000 km on it.

Sell it to someone as a track car. Or sell it to someone in a different province.

I think the title will follow (atleast within canada)

not sure......I would only be interested in engine, ecu, wiring harness, all sensors, power steering pump and altenator.
The transmission isn't really a saught after upgrade so will be hard selling that. And the rear diff and driveshaft might be hard to sell as well. It all depends on who needs what at a certain time. Parting out an entire car can take months if not years. So you would have to be prepared to have a half gutted car sitting around for awhile.

I've parted em out before.. I know it takes a while I usually just strip it as much as possible and then get rid of the shell.

                  I'm currently parting out an 07 335i
its been sitting in my garage for months!

If it is a 04 3.2 than the tranny is DSG so might be not so bad to get rid of.

that isn't true. Our Mk1 was a written off vehicle, it was just repaired and given a salvaged title. Isn't Graeme's allroad a Salvage?

this isnt salvage. Theres a difference. I've repaired a few salvage vehicles for either myself, or friends/family.

100% its non repairable - Atleast in Alberta, however I'm sure the title will follow the car within Canada. Shipping it overseas will *usually* clear that (so I'm told)
