CAI in Winter???

Are any of you guys running into any problems with your CAI in the winter seasons? I noticed that the CAI for the Jetta goes 'down' into the wheel well or somewhere below... and not sure if the snow will affect it at all....

Probably be ok but no one is going to give any guarantees... I think the CAI companies recommend removing it.

No problems here so far. I don't think the snow is as much an issue as the puddles might be come spring.

yup come spring i'm taking it off cuz the puddles are gonna be huge and stuff so yea.. but so far car runs so nice with the cold ass weather

Mines still on but ya when it gets nice and I can get my bumper off i'll move it to the engine bay....

If your not driving the deep water at high speeds, you should be ok

I have mine still in, I was really wanting to remove it as performance in the winter is not a top priority for me.

But honestly, I'm lazy. I dont want to remove my battery and jack my car up in my snow covered parking lot... maybe.

If I remember correctly from what I read on the Vortex, to waterlog your engine with a CAI, your car has to be submerged in at least 2' of standing water, and rev's have to be over 3000 RPM. I don't know if this is true, but whenever I see standing water, I throw it in neutral so there isn't as much air being sucked in. Just makes me sleep better at night.

I suppose we'll see how spring goes I do the same simon.. a tech at northland told me to shut off the motor too then start it back up after you pass the deepies since the engine is still turning in neutral or something i dunno i just drive sensible and not baywatch style
