    Re: New Jetta

VWVortex has a good article about the first drive in the Jetta 6. The base model will be cheap as it will have nothing - drum brakes, no independent suspension, cheap plastic.

        Re: New Jetta

Man, what a bummer the new Jetta is. (I fully agree with others that the styling is way too generic/non-VW looking, and I can't believe they are bothering to offer such a cheap version by putting in the 'ol 2.slow and drum rears...)
In so many ways, this seems like anything but a VW.

glad i bought the 2010. MK6 golf interior, with the mk5 quality equipment. i don't mind the new body style, but what a piece of junk overall.

            Re: New Jetta

Torsion beam suspension is same as mk4 and while it's not s2000 level it's not exactly junk. And rear brakes hardly do any of the braking so drums are fine for the bulk sheep who buy appliances. They're the ones that get the better models paid for.

I will wait for GLI before making a verdict. Though that new Optima is sure getting my attention.

I'm fine with my mk4 for now, but the itch is bad. I'm all over the map - f150 v6 turbo, g8 gt, new optima/magentis, new jetta, b8 s4, rx8 r3...

But nothing till I at least see the GLI. I swear though the kia/hyundai twins are turning into what vw was 10 years ago. 275 hp, super lux, 30+ mpg, killer looks, etc...

this is a mistake yet again by a giant automaker . dont let the americans decide anything . they will always just make bigger cupholders and forget the rest .

I have a 2011 for the weekend. Not sure on trim level, but has leather and 4 wheel disc and auto.
