Re: Suggestions on good brake shop

Thread jack alert! I need new front brakes for my 03 GTI. The rotors are 11.3", does anyone know if I can (with stock 17" monte carlos) switch to the 12.3" rotors from the anniversary/337 and if so would it be smrt?

Yes, 20th/337 brakes will work with monte carlos

Keep in mind, this upgrade will require more than simply switching rotors.

Is it worth it/smart? Well....it really depends on why you would like to upgrade.

If you have modified your car to the point where you have added a decent amount of power, then yes. The 20th/337 setup is a great upgrade for the price in comparison to a BBK.

If you are switching to a 20th/337 setup just for the sake of switching to larger brakes, then no. Spend that money on upgrading what you have.

Keep in mind, if you combine the right aftermarket rotors, pads, and stainless brake lines, your regular 11.3" brakes can be very good without having to spend what it would cost to switch to an OEM 20th/337 setup. Stainless lines alone would noticeably change your braking performance.

I figured there'd be calipers etc involved. Meh, not worth it. Thanks

You could also try mopac on 16th ave. They can get some stuff in reasonably from time to time.
