I was in the same situation where if I could get the old ones resurfaced it was a lot cheaper then new rotors so I figured I'd give it a shot.

At the time I knew the manager and the rotors turned out great, saved me a lot of money. If I were doing it again I may hesitate as he's not there anymore and they've had a staff turn over.

Ok you can't talk about getting the "best", and then talk about resurfacing! Talk to any VW tech/George @tunedub whoever, and I'll bet they'll tell you replace the rotor with the pad together. It's like buying only 1 tire - not very wise. You can get OEM blanks for under 70 bucks last time I looked.

I'll be talking to George when I get my alignment done on Thursday, and i'll definitely be asking for his opinion on it. As for getting OEM blanks for under $70, lol at that. Look harder

Yeah unfortunately it is! I checked Evolution but they only carry rotors for TDI's (or at least thats all they list). Thanks though!

Re: Suggestions on good brake shop

Brembo doesnt make proper rotors for a Mk4 R32.
The front rotors are directionally vented to enhance air cooling. So not all mk4 rotors work. The R32 has 256x22mm vented rotors compared to the regular 232x9mm solid discs of the MkIV 2.0 and 1.8T cars

Thats just the rears. The front rotors are 334x32, so their quite big.

Whups sorry didn't notice it was an R. Still, my comment about resurfacing being a ghetto option still applies. But yah no 70$ blanks for you!

If used these guys before and they were really good. Free shipping with ups and they are in van.

They have OEM(not sure if genuine) fronts for 200 a pop, but i linked u to the rears, they have blanks and slotted/drilled made by zimmerman, pbr and a few other companies.

Its worth checking out if anything.

Tire rack has some cheaper ones. No idea if brand is ok. They like ups too I think, which sucks.

Try giving Mike a try at Import Replacement Parts in Seattle, WA. They offer great deals on Bimmerforums. When he last quoted me some stuff, the prices were great and the shipping was actually reasonable. Can't hurt to send an email anyway.
