  • Suggestions on good brake shop

Hey Fellas, can anyone suggest a good shop to machine/resurface brake rotors? Not looking exactly for the cheapest, more so looking for good quality shop. Dont want anyone hacking away at it. Let me hear your stories and experiences!

    TIA!

Does 'not the cheapest, good quality shop" fit in the same sentence with 'resurfacing rotors'?
    Why not just replace them?

Thats plan B, but if I can get them machined for 100-200 bucks, it beats spending 450+ on new rotors. If I cant get it done, then yes I will be replacing them.

There was a time (not sure if you still can) where ebay could get you brand name rotors for not that much money.

It's a lathe, so you're looking for a good machinist. Places like autovalue will do it. But if you're looking for something better find a machine shop, and pay the extra. Look up the minimum thickness spec if you got to a machine shop.

Assuming your rotors aren't all scorched and gouged this is a good bet.

ECS Tuning for drilled and slotted. If you know a cheaper place, post up the link please and thanks!

I have had good times with Speedy brake/ minute muffler in Bowness machined my rotors and they are still good.

I had the rear rotors on my RX7 done at a Part Source. They have a machine specifically for brake rotors. Napa may even have something similar. This is going back a couple years but I think it was under $100 for the pair. I'm not sure if they can do slotted rotors though.

I used to work there, and they can't. Don't EVER get your rotors machined at partsource, unless it's a junk beater and you're desperate.

Thanks again for the links, but I think i'm going to stay away from the Ebay rotors. I'm hearing from a lot of people that OEM rotors are best, so if I need to pay a bit of a premium on those for good quality, i'm prepared to do that.
