  • Tunedub?

Just booked an appointment to get my timing belt done at tune dub. Quoted me 900 region for it. Does that seems. Little high for an mkiv tdi?

    Re: Tunedub?

not really. get a quote from the dealership and compare...

Parts are about 300$ if you do water pump at the same time (which you should), and labour is high. I think the dealer labour allotted is 4-6 hours or something. George's price is reasonable. From what I understand, an experienced guy can DIY it in 4 hours if nothing else goes wrong. I was about to do the TB in my MK4 jetta (with help) a few weeks ago, but then my car died, so I never got to it.

Last time a friend did had it done there it was just over $800 so that sounds about right. Just make sure all the rollers and water pump are changed.

TuneDub rules, & George absolutely rules. He's passionate about VW/Audi, yadda yadda.

I've owned my car for almost 4 yrs. I religiously took my car to him. Unfortunately my clutch failed, and I took my GTi to one of his competitors. whom I experienced terribly shoddy service from. What a mistake I had made, in not waiting for George.

His competitor had a flexible, open schedule.
George was swamped -- & I needed the car right away.

I should've read the writing then.

Yes $900 sounds about right, as that's what I paid for mine a couple years back. (fuel pump, time belt etc

Sounds about right. I had mine done a few months back and it was just under $1000. Dealership quoted me around $1300.

Cool thanks guys. I never talk to George, just his front desk. Maybe I'll talk to him about doing a few more things in the future.

1098 for the diesel. It might be different for a gas and I got the serp belt changed. Water pump as well, not sure about rollers.
