  • Did some tweaking today

My friend lent me his Vag-Com cable, and I managed to do the following on my 07 GTI

-Roll down the windows with the keyfob (hold it down and they roll down)

-Roll up the windows and close to the sunroof with the keyfob (hold down the button and they roll up!)

-Leaving home feature, unlock button will turn headlights and int. lights on until you start the car. Great to find your car in a dark parking lot.

-Changed my cluster to the European specs, more languages, more options, but generally useless except that you need it to unlock coming home/leaving home features

-Fogs lights as DRL's. No more replacing expense HID bulbs. Going to try this one out and see how I feel about it.

Still to come is the proper coding and wiring of my Hella LED tail's for amber turn signals!

Why the dealers feel they need to lock the ability to change these features is beyond me, but it's fun to have access to it now!

      Re: Did some tweaking today

Well if you have an mkv, it doesn't take very long. Probably like 5-10 mins. I am guessing the process is similar on mkiv's etc, but i have only ever done it to my car, (mkv gti) and not sure if there are additional steps on other models or if it's even possible. But the actually process is really simple, just have to check a couple boxes here and there.

Update: Well after hacking my tail light cables and re-wiring a couple things, I now have fully functional Hella LED tail lights with AMBER TURN SIGNALS. Found some long coding on another site and after re-wiring and reprogramming the central electronics controller it worked like a charm!

Well if the pin out and coding is in any way similar to a mkv's, it's actually fairly simple, took me about 30 mins all in, and that was programming too.

                    Re: Did some tweaking today

I think I just need coding for the inner lights at the moment. Not going to setup the rear fog at this point as that is a bit of wiring and requires the Euro switch.

                      Re: Did some tweaking today

Oh yes, I am far too lazy to run a single wire and put a euro switch in, JUST for a rear fog.
