  • A/C Question

I have a 06 Jetta 2.0T and its starting to get into AC season here.....problem is I dunno if VW's are just weak or mines broken? It doesn't seem to change if your driving or stopped, the air it blows on ECON is lukewarm at best. VW told me its unlikely the AC needs recharging, but there may be a leak...oh and I do not have the Auto Climate system, just the turn knobs with Econ mode.

Does the AC system in a VW just suck? OR is my car busted?

    Anyone else have this issue?

I heard most VW's AC just sucks. The AC in my 09 Rabbit is the same, its cold for the first two minutes and then changes to just blowing normal air.

I find the AC in my 2010 blows pretty cold, so far I have not needed to use it for more than a couple minutes to cool things off. I still prefer the windows down over AC, but a couple minutes to cool things off first helps out.

I'm the sameway too. In all the cars I've had none of them had AC. The AC is a great feature but it's better to just roll down your windows. Something about having clean, fresh, none circulated air is better. A couple of minutes is all that you need with AC.

So whats the deal with ECON? its only on Canadian spec cars? And from what I read it shuts the compressor down if its lit up?

            Re: A/C Question

if you have it on ECON, then your A/C is not on. the compressor will seize and stop working but you have to clean out the whole system and replace the compressor, expansion block and evaporator to fix it.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3
