  • Compustar 2-way in a Golf mk6

I've been looking at getting a compustar 2-way alarm and start system. I've had it in other cars that I have owned over the years and I love it. I got quoted from a shop and the quote was $775.00. Now in previous years it wasn't anymore than $600. Is this a good price? Do you guys know of another place that it could be cheaper and do great job? Thanks for the help.

Generally these systems are very difficult to install in VWs so prices are high.

Yeah I didn't know that. I figured that they were all installed the same, now it makes sense. Thanks for the info.

In all honesty, I would hold off for a few months. I know since the MK4's, its been tough for installers to get a good understanding of the electrical system at first. Being that the mK6 is so new, I can guarantee they (installers) havent quite worked out all the kinks. You're car would just become another "test" car which would be wired through trial and error. And with all the crap I heard about wiring MK4's and MK5's when they first came out, I wouldnt want to deal with the headaches later.

Yeah! Thanks for the heads up guys. I wasn't 100 percent sure because I heard of some people having issues with installing. I would rather not have my brand new car be a "test" car. It's better to freeze my ass of when it's cold to start my car then to have someone hack up everything to install it.

my background is car audio and there is ZERO chance of me installing a starter in my Gti! let someone else's car be the guinea pig and then look into it. im sure over the next few mths someone will try it and and there will be ample info of how much a pain in the ass the wiring and stuff is lol!

Is there any issues installing car audio in these cars?
