First time I've done a Cd player install on a VW of any sort. Is there any special wiring harness needed like on the newer GM vehicles? What is all needed for install?

What year and model do you have, MKVs need a special unit to install with.

you can get away without using a "special harness" on '02.5+ vehicles with CANbus
- need to get ignition from a switched fuse, and illumination from something with illumination
