So which version is everyone running. I still have never received any letter from VW about them from the 1st recall to the 2nd one:yahsure: ??? I bugged them about it on my 8k and they said if your car runs fine and you don't have a letter they won't do it. And my car does run super good and has never had an issue but now I read on vortex there are a new 'L' coilpack out and the previous was 'J'? Hrmm....

Southgate up here just changed mine when I was in for something else ... I brought my car in and they said "well your car is here might as well cange them" which i thought was pretty cool

Most 03s got the new version anyways so there's really no point in switching.

J's are the new ones - you can tell by looking at the top of the coil.

I highly suggest buying 1 for 29 dollars and keeping it in the car with a socket and an allen key. Beats waiting 1+ hours for roadside+tow - especially if it happens on a Sunday.

I never had a problem with my original ones (in an '01 AWW) but the dealership replaced them 2 months ago (I was in getting my window regulators replaced) under warranty. I never got the letter either.
