  • Schmidt Phantom Lines on Customer MK6 GTi

Just did a set of Schmidt Phantom Lines in 18 inch w/225/40R18 SPT's on a new MK6 GTi so I thought I would share a couple pics to get some opinions being a newer wheel, so lets hear 'em!

(Sorry for poor BBerry phone pic quality! lol)

I am not 100% sold on the look, could be the pics but they look a bit small to me.

I like the wheel, but it should be silver or black unless they are actually colour matched. The different white ruins it for that particular car, unless it just looks different in the pics. Black with chrome lip would tie in to the headlights nicely.

Im not really feeling the look, some spacers in the back would make it look much better though.

Its because the wheels are decieving. Your eyes follow the white spokes to the outer diameter, which almost makes them look like 16's. The dish also adds to the appearance of a smaller then 18 inch wheel as well. I had a discussion about this with tire bob awhile back when I was picking out a set of rims from him.

The car just needs more low and then the wheels will look much better with the car.

For the record, the customer is dropping the car very shortly, so I wasn't really looking for the overall car at this time as much as the rims themselves, but we do agree a drop will definitely help set it all off!

Not sold on the look, they do not look like 18's. Even if it was lowered I still do not think it will change the look that much. Should be silver or black with the chrome lip. As long as the customer is happy and likes the way it looks that is all that matters.

agreed, I think for the look he is trying to pull off he should have gone bigger, for some reason I find Mk5/6s make 18s look small, similar to the equivalent of 17s on Mk4s, especially when there is so much contrast between tire and wheels.

Hope the owner likes it, not that I think it looks bad or something but to be honest I wouldn't want to spend all that money for a meh result...

Well mixed reviews so far, which I actually prefer to see believe it or not. That means they are not the same thing everyone else does and are still pretty unique! I personally love the rim. In person it looks really clean and nice, but the car definitely needs to be dropped and a few other goodies!

Now Eldo... I am trying to figure out if you meant Hot or Not with this photo cuz personally, I'd rolled all over that in my single days! Ahahaaha! Nothing wrong with some real curves!

                              Bob, you got it right!
The photo kinda meant "almost hot". Like the wheels,.. if I was WASTED, I'd probably be pretty psyched.

While not my style, the wheel is definitely a quality piece. I'd just change the size / fitment / ride height / color.
