  • Knockity knock.... more problems

Sooo last thursday i got my control arm bushings done and got an alignment. Saturday morning i heard a knock on every bump from my right rear. Never heard it before. At first i thought it was stuff bouncing around in my hatch. I took all of that out drove it and the knock is still there. I checked all the trim pieces and everything is clipped in and not flopping around. I had a friend come with me for a ride last night and said sounds like something in the suspension is loose. Now since the cup kit is fairly new, is it common that during the settling process things come loose? Could the upper strut mount and lower mount bolts have backed out a few threads? I don't think Leth VW would have touched my rear suspension for an alignment. But i may be wrong. I'm just clueless and am wondering if anybody can provide their $0.02.

    Thanks

Sounds like it could be your upper shock mount, if its coming from the rear. Might just be a coincidence it went bad around the same time you got an alignment. Easy fix tho, should only be around 40 bucks for the mount (at least thats how much they are for bmw's).

    Good luck.

when i did the coils in my car, one of the rear strut top mounting bolts came loose after a couple weeks, and was making quite the noise. You may want to check those

The rear end isn't adjustable for alignment in the MK 4's. Just the front.
