  • Rear rotor thickness

    Hey,

anyone tell me minimum rear rotor thickness?

swapped the summer wheels on this weekend and thought id look at why the park brake was lifting so high. Noticed one sides pads were like new and one side was worn almost all the way down so it looks like i have a sticking piston in the one caliper and im gonna have to replace my pads as well so i thought id check if the rotors needed replacing too. anyone?

    Cheers
    Eric..

    Re: Rear rotor thickness

You always need to replace the rotors everytime you change the pads. especially if one side was braking harder then the other.

technically you dont have to replace your rotors... i recommend taking them to a service shop and get them machined its cheaper... the shop will tell you if they can be machined or not... its about 25 bucks per rotor and as for your braking you might have a seized caliper bolt (the bolts thats your calipers mount with they should have a high temp brake grease on they to allow them to slide pulling both pads equally) unless you have a dual piston caliper

Not a fan of machining rotors...The thinner they get, the more chance of warping. Prices of rotors these days, might as well replace them.
