  • Mk4 wiring help!

I'm trying to hook up my hella fogs to the running lights, do I need a relay or could I just tap into the running lights wire on the adapter? If so what is the colour of the running lights wire in the 10-pin plug? I tried to search for a wiring diagram but most ones I found didn't list colours. Anybody know? TIA

grey with yellow at the light connector probably

if you're relying on factory wiring, yes you will need the relay and fuses in there too.
It's probably grey and white at the light switch.

edit: are your "running lights" the headlights or are you talking about the markers (yellow lights), no don't tap directly into the markers, use a relay.

      That's what I was guessing.

Yes, I was talking about the side markers (running/parking lights)
      Thanks though!

Yeah, I have a relay and fuse installed for my fogs that are in my headlights from when I had them installed by Richard... Would it be alright to tap into that line since it is separate from the 10-pin adapter?

that should be fine, I gave colors for the fog light wires not side markers BTW, so those are the ones that you tap into. Hopefully the bulbs aren't higher wattage than stock fog lights. If you are adding them in addition to the factory fogs, then you should add a seperate relay. The wires may get warm and spontaneously combust with too much current draw with 2 sets of fogs on a factory wiring harness. It's a remote possibility.
Princess auto usually has cheap VF4 relays and sockets for them.
