  • Lower Intercooler Pipe for 1.8T

Has anyone tried switching out the flattened "pancake" pipe for this neuspeed one.

I could see how it makes a big difference but I just wanted to see if anyone has an opinion on it before I order one.

You could probably get an exhaust shop to make that thing for quite a bit cheaper than 130$. I was going to get a fmic, but since i'm only chipped I think i'm just going to clean out my intercooler, and see if I can get replacement piping made. I think it will still make a difference.

Yeah, I was kinda thinking about using exhaust tubing

I think I'm going to take it out tonight and see what I can do.

I was replacing my in-cabin filter this afternoon and noticed that my 1.9L ALH TDI has a similar "pancake" pipe. I can see how the flattened portion could be pretty restrictive. Any TDI guys swap theirs out for something similar?

So sure enough I was bored when I got home today. I decided to take off the pancake pipe and rig something up that would work. With a combination of rad hose and pvc pipe I got it done. Not a very noticable difference but I'm sure that it is much better for the Turbo. I'm going to eventually get the Neuspeed one but this will do for now.

So my next question is about an Audi TT "short shifter". Has anyone done this? I heard that it is suppose to get you a 20% reduction and for around 60 bucks it worth it. Just let me know what you guys think about them.

Also, I've been reading about a N75J (or H) valve. I was just wondering what it does and if you guys would recommend putting one on.

I did a bit of searching and there are 3 manufacturers of this aftermarket pipe: ABD, GHL and Neuspeed. I found prices ranging from $94 to $199 US. Do some looking around:

ABD rubs slightly at full lock on 7 inch or wider wheels. That's why the stock is pancake.

so i installed the eurojet pipe the other day.. fitment was a little off... took a bit of tweaking the brackets to get it to fit.. feels like it has a little more energy on the top end too...
