2008 GTI Front Axle Bolt head spec

Anyone know 100% what type of head is on the axle bolts for the MKV GTI's? I'm installing Coilovers tomorrow, and need the proper tool.

The GLI's supposedly use a 27mm 6 pt socket
The GTI's are supposed to have a 24mm 12 pt socket.

Has anyone done this? Given that the GTI's are made in Germany, I would suspect the latter is required.

you have to unbolt the axle to do coilovers? crazy. all i had to do on my a4 was undo the upper control arms
