Badgless Grill

He everyone,
I installed the Fk badgless grill on my golf. Not too happy with how the hood and bumper notch fillers look. Woundering what you guys have done to clean that up? Anyone on here do any sort of body work? Just checking out what my option are as Im not wanting to spend a grand on this since it is a 2002. The car is black as well. Trying to get away doing this as cheap as possible.

I had an extra bumper laying around so I cut out a piece from it to fill the hole. I had a body shop mold it to my bumper with fusor and I did all the final filling, sanding and prep work for paint. For my hood I cut out a peice of sheet metal in the shape of the notch and had my father weld it in place and I filled and prepped it. If I still have the extra bumper your more than welcome to cut a piece from it for your bumper notch.

yea those hood fillers are a pain, with the fk grill on my jetta it to me almost an hour of bending and re-bending to get the thing to sit right, for some odd reason fk doesn't seem to test fit their product on cars or something haha. with the hood notch your only real option is to get metal welded in and to repaint the hood, I don't know what you would do for the bumper filler.

hey thanks for the offer!!
I do have the fillers that come with the Fk kit but woundering what the best way to have it molded in I guess.
Body shops cost way too much to do all the prep work and paint so looking to cut down my costs for this. Possibly doing all the molding and sanding at home and just taking it in for paint possibly. Like I said, just checking how you guys went about doing your grills.

unfortunately, at least for the hood if you are looking at molding it your better off chucking the hood notch filler out and getting someone with welding skills to weld in a piece of sheet metal as 337 was saying. You can't really mold it on with bondo or something as it will likely just crack off.

You are better off buying a used badgeless CF hood or something. Most likely as cheap - paint is F&^# expensive now.

yea that is actually a good suggestion and on a black car it would look really good.

Ya body shops are all looking between $1,000-$2,000 to do bodywork and paint. Got one quote for $500 though so might go that way too.
The CF hood is a good idea as well actually. Thanks!! Just gotta figure out what to do with the bumper after.lol

So anyone experienced and willing to do the body work..sanding and preping? I can get it painted for quiet cheap but the body work is where the cost is with shops.
