So I managed to pick up a set of Jetta vents for really cheap and decided to go for a cleaner look that our Jetta friends generously received stock. It took very little time to do and i personally think it looks much better. Compliments to Vortex for showing me the majority of the DIY. I decided to go into a little more detail.
Now onto the photos
First off insert a small flathead screwdriver on the left side of then vent and pry towards the directional wheels and the vent pop's right out.
Remove the vent like so:
Now remove the headlight switch by pushing in and turning to the "on" position and it pulls right out. Press the two tabs on the harness and disconnect the switch.
Now with a Torx20 remove the screw at the top of the vent. When the light switch is removed, the remove the screw below the light switch.
Now just give the vent a solid tug and the vent pops out. Then reach in behind and unplug the dimmer switch. This is a photo with everything removed.
Then pop the new vent in and plug in both the dimmer and light switch and here we have it.
Now the center vents were a little trickier. again pop out the original vents be prying towards the center scroll wheel. Then remove the two Torx screws on the upper left and upper right hand corners. Now since my car how now options, I easily popped out the dummy switches by just prying them out. Hazard and Defrost switches are to follow.
Now to remove the other switches , it's a little more difficult. You can insert two mini flatheads and pry them out. I chose not to do this. I simply popped the whole vent out and then reached in and squeezed the two spring clips and pushed them out and disconnected them.
I then popped in the new vent, inserted the switches from the front and connected them. This was a little tricky as there wasn't very much slack so it was pretty tight. You don't need to put the Torx screws back in as the clips hold everything in place. Here's the final result.
Just thought i would show how i did it to ease the process with anyone else interested.

Thanks
