Re: I need tdi guru help.
Glad you stayed away as this guy is making stuff up completely here.
Even the power numbers he stated, to get those you need a lot more then a tune, turbo, and even injectors. A whole engine rebuild with high end parts and porting, air intake, custom intake+one big a$$ turbo. With that, you might get between the 200-250 hp mark. These cars start with 90hp, so getting 400hp is not going to happen.
The blow off valve is not right either, and of course I would question the whole turbo thing. I would get the model he got, great he got a garret, but that don't tell you much. Also 3 inch exhaust, waste of time and money as the you won't see any performance increase, just a slower time due to the extra weight of the exhaust.
From somebody who has a modded car and modded a few others, stay away from this one. If you come across a modded car in your future ask these basic questions.
Who modded it?
What is the brand of the mods, ie injector, turbo, chip brands
And if its a turbo mod ask what PSI it is set to run at and how they have that limited.
Stock TDi's run a 15 Psi boost, chipped run about 18 Psi, and with a big turbo and tune typically 21-25 psi depending on the turbo. A really big turbo will get you higher, but without the accompanying engine internal modifications its a ticking time bomb.
Just my 2 cents if somebody runs into this again.
