Re: Raceland Coilovers??? vs. Stage 1(+) Unitronic

I had an Autotech clubsport kit on my mk3 Golf CL, didn't have any complaints. The person I sold it to had a shock lose it's dampening and they sent him a replacement and gave him a refund when he sent the defective one back.

It rode really nice though, would buy the kit again.

Or, I can get that spring/strut set from Concept 1, or the FK Highsports. It looks like I'll be doing suspension before the chip.

Which set would you guys reccomend?

Alright thanks, I do like the look for the autotech stuff, and I think it would be a good amount of low. 15's won't be helping my cause, but im not sure!

I still don't know what to get!

I've been running my raceland coils on my mk4 since January, the ride quality is good (I've experienced much worse) AND i'm tucking on my 16" winter steelies. I wouldn't auto cross or do any competitive driving on them because they are unproven in that category but if you want some low, the coil are great.

There's a lot of hating on these coils simply because they are priced at the bottom end, show me some chronic issues with them and maybe I'll change my opinion, otherwise the negative feedback is unwarranted. Besides if these blowup in 2 years time, I got my moneys worth.

I for sure agree with you about the price, it seems with a 2 year warranty they're hard to beat. Im just worried how they'll hold up after those 2 years. which is why im looking at those other options, and trying to get opinions now.

At $450 who cares man, odds are they will hold up just fine, but if they don't its not like they were $1200 konis or bilsteins.

If they fail (very unlikely) in the first 2 years, you have the warranty to fall back on anyway.

If they fail in 3 then, oh noes... you will be done school by then and should be in the clear. Also aren't you done school in less than a month? Hold onto them and when you get home install them.

Yeah I guess so, I'm just worried about corrosion and seizing!

Just take care of them. Make sure you put a waterproof grease on the threads or an anti-seize compound, those should prevent corrosion and keep an eye on them, they should be fine. We have Vmaxx in our Mk1, and they work. They are a bit bouncy, but we have them all the way down and the car doesn't way a whole hell of a lot.

Ok thanks Im just worried if I go back to van what alot of rain will do, and snow here, as my car is always outside.

Hmm my other option is to just wait awhile, and maybe at the end of summer, buy a set of Koni's?
