  • CD Changer Dun Busted...

So my factory 6 disc changer has strangely stopped working.

It still responds to the deck inputs and I can hear it buzzing in the hatch swapping discs and such but everytime it tries to read a disc I get a disc error.

I've used a CD player cleaner CD to no effect. And I've also tried using regular CDs (ie not CD-Rs) also to no effect.

    Any ideas?

Yes - I do believe you're right! :mrtongue:

Anyway, I was thinking about taking it to the dealer, but it might be better to take it to a electronics repair place? You think the dealer would charge me an arm and a leg?

The odd one has a problem in the cold (condensation on the discs)

Leave it be and it might just fix itself.

Thats what happened to mine. One day the radio is dead, except for the buzzing of the CD changer in the hatch, the next day.....works fine.

Prolly the cold, like Gumby said. Car was sitting outside when the radio went kaput.

I have a problem where the changer won't load discs sometimes. Like others have said, it only happens in the cold. Oh well.

Cold? Mine stopped working in July! I've just been too lazy to deal with it.

It's currently a nice feng shui display in my dining room.
