  • Who is the resident VAG-COM wizard?

Just got some new LED tail lights for my mkv gti, and they are euro spec. Meaning that they have amber turn signals that won't work without some modifying. I have found a DIY on vortex that shows how to do the physical wiring, and I have order the connectors etc that I need to complete that part.

The DIY shows how to properly configure the long coding in VAG-COM, however I do not own the cable etc. And since Volkstech is MIA for over a month, I am unable to buy one without waiting for delivery. I was wondering if anyone has any experience long coding signal lights etc in VAG-COM, as well as unlocking some of the fancy features that are available to be done like key fob remote window control, coming home/going home, fogs as DRL's...

So who's the VAG-COM guru? Willing to offer beer for services rendered!

Well I am no expert (and struggling with MK6 LED tails too) but the club will probably have a nice new Ross Tech cable that could be used by paid members. No laptop at this point though.

You will need a vag-com that is CAN-bus enabled. You can also buy them on dealextreme.com these days.

Well Blair, whenever you're ready to try those new tails out.... I ordered in the wiring terminals from 5th ave that allow you to add a 4th pin slot to the harness, ordered 2 and didn't know they came with 2 ends, so I have an extra set. And the thread I found on vortex shows how to insert it, we just need to get the long coding down pat. Let me know if you want to try this out sometime, as I'd love to get mine working fully

            The vag-com's for Mk5's won't work on MK6's?

I believe so, but the mkvi ones will work on the mkv ones.

Re: Who is the resident VAG-COM wizard?

I'm looking for some VAG programming done as well (sorry to hijack). I want to try to activate gauge dial sweep on startup, or "staging" on my MK6. It's supposedly a matter of simply changing a variable. No long coding from what I know.

                VCDS Version 912 beta
Select under 17 Instruments - 10 adaption - Staging and activate.

                Any takers? Thanks
