I'm looking at a new exhaust in the not too distant future and was curious what others are running. I'm tempted on the EG solid, but leaning towards the Magnaflow since highway driving is minimal these days and I'm not too worried about drone. I guess there is always dynamat if the drone gets too bad after a year or so of use. I've also heard things about rust issues with the Magnaflow. I guess they're cheap for a reason?

Re: Who's drivnig VR6's in the club?
I had a magnoflow on my previous MK3 VR6 and loved it. Sounded great, was priced right and didn't drone at all on the highway! I believe Miltek makes a nice Vr exhaust for MK4's!Derek

Re: Who's drivnig VR6's in the club?
I've been looking around for one recently as well. I don't believe milltek makes one for the vr6 anymore (well at least they don't list it on their site) which is unfortunate as it was one of the only good sounding vr6 exhausts IMO.
I think i've narrowed it down to the magnaflow cat back, but I personally would keep the resonator, i know a lot of people delete the resonator, but I find the VR sounds like a tractor if you delete the resonator on the magnaflow (and other exhausts for that matter).
there are a ton of sound clips on youtube which is how i've been narrowing it down. Performance gains are going to be essentially nothing so go by sound.

I have a 2000 Jetta VR6 12V, and also looking for an exhaust this summer. I've narrowed it down to Magnaflow and A.W.E.
For you VR6 guys, go on youtube, and type in A.W.E VR6 exhaust, it sounds amazing IMO.

Re: Who's drivnig VR6's in the club?
I have the Magnaflow with the resonator deleted. It is drony even in the city. It happens and is at its worst at 2300-2800 rpm. If your cruising at those rpms, its not bad, but when you start to go up an incline its annoying. Not for me, but my passengers. All they do is complain, especially the non-enthusists. If you keep the resonator on, you won't have to worry about it. But the exhaust note sounds sooo good with it deleted. Performance gains can be made, although it is minimal. Try and find an exhaust that has 2.5 inches in diameter piping.TWO TON ENGINE LIFT/CRANE FOR RENT

Re: Who's drivnig VR6's in the club?
I have a 24v VR6 and I have a Magnaflow exhaust. I really like it a lot, to me it is the perfect exhaust note, it has a got rumble at idle, and a nice throaty sound when revved up a bit. As for driving its nice and deep in the lower RPMs and when you get higher up the sound gets a bit quiter so its not too bad for highway cruising.
My tips are rusted pretty bad, which is sad, but it actually doesnt look that awful.MIKE
