I just picked up my new deck from the post office and now I'll have to install it. Any Tips?

I got a Blaupunkt Hamburg which apparantley is fairly straight forward on the install.

nice the blaus match the blue 100% get a Metra harness from soundsaround or wherever and get a OEM DIN pocket from the dealer (search on tex for the PN) as for the install make sure your Kwire or now the CANBUS is not hooked up as it will mess with the VAG,etc oh for stereo removal tools you can ghetto make some with an old bank card or if you have sheet metal lying around and tin snips.. search on vortex for radio install kinda thing there a zillion FAQs for you nick.. good luck.. can't wait to see it on thursday

Isn't an aftermarket deck more of a hassle than anything else. Apparently every time you take your car in you need to uninstall it or something like that, or do some crazy wiring. I was talking to the guy at soundsurround in crowfoot who has a nice GTI and he said he wasnt putting any car audio in to his car because of the hassle.

I have connections at the dealership that ask my dad questions, so I'm hoping that they will take his word for it.

And first of all I'm gonna need a few things, like I have a single din pocket so that should be fine but I think I'll need an antenna amplifier. So it might not be in this thursday.

Just take a picture of the install with the stereo out and the kwire not hooked up. That shows the dealer you knew about it.

I don't understand why dealerships don't just invest in a 50 dollar VAG-Saver. It lights red if the kwire is hooked up, green if it isnt. Much better service than harassing people for changing the stereo.

No halse with a aftermarket deck .. just tell them you put one in, and they run some scan before they hook up their scan tool. ( As you dont want to break their scan tool its big and expensive ) And install is simple if you have a wireing hareness. Speaker install on a mk4 is a little more complicated but still do-able.

I just had my car in for service at 5th Avenue. The guy there said that my word on the "K-Wire" was good enough, they didn't make me take the deck out. No hassle at all.
