local ridge roads are ohh 4" thick pure ice like a skating rink but they had so much traffic it turned into washboard like a gravel road!!

I have a set of Michelin Arctic Alpins and they were holdin' up pretty good today. In fact, I had to wait for this guy in front of me who was having trouble getting into this little strip mall around 8th Avenue and Edmonton trail. Its about a 20 degree incline so he was spinning out all over the place and ended up having 2 kids push him up the ramp. Then, as the kids were ready to help me go up... i just gave 'er a calculated little run and bombed it up the whole way.

On the flipside though, I sure wish I had like a Jeep TJ today. Doin' some 4x4'in in a Jeep is always a good time.

Hope nobody smacked up their dubs today!

          Cheers... :mrpimp:

LOL I have a TJ I can drive and I would prefer to drive my dub in the snow, with the nokians on it holds the road way better when driving on icey roads like glenmor and deerfoot. I even parked in a big pile of snow right between a h2 hummer and a range rover, drove out fine.

Well I almost got creamed today, some guy was coming up behind me and he wasn't straight so I know he's sliding, so I run through the yellow and the car doesn't stop until about 15 feet past the intersection. That would have written off the car.

ya last year i was taking it easy and stopping sooooooo far before the light on John Laurie and like 53st or something, and i just slid and there was no hope of stopping...I had enough time to debate whether or not i could stop in time or slam into the curb and get up on the meridian. Luckily I stopped in time, about an inch or two from the back of someones bumper...I shat myself in the process. lol.

Lowered car + Oettinger bumper = World's most expensive snow plow:mrsly:

Drove to the entrance of Rocky Ridge and decided, f@#k it. Drove home jumped in my '85 Jetta and all was good

BTW, hand brake induced drifting rocks

is that bad on your car at all Derick? I've busted it out on the occasion on the ice, but is it hard on the car?

i know exactly what you mean C-town, i go down a back alley to get out of my parking lot, and I was obviously the lowest car to go down the alley today. scraped the entire way and put a nice pile of snow on 17th when I pulled out

Yeah Simon, the worst part about plowing is all you can do is sit there cringing, hoping nothing gets pulled off. Last winter, a buddy of mine plowed through an alley and ripped off both Rieger sideskirts, a lower grill piece, and the plastic protector thingy under the engine. I think my Bora is gonna finally be put to rest for the winter. As soon as the roads are a bit cleaner I'm planning on washing, waxing, parking, and modding like hell

Puppage, as for the hand brake turns. I don't know if its that bad for your car. But I suppose it can't be good for it either. I figure that if its done on really icy roads, the pressure and loads placed on your rear brakes is probably no greater than if you were parked on a hill. Also, I was pulling these drifts in my Mk2. That's the best part about having a winter beater is that you can BEAT on it. Quite frankly, if I were to break something on the mk2, I'd be like whatever. Your GTI is a MUCH more finely tuned machine, so bagging on it can have far deeper consequences. Just my $.02
