This definitely took me by surprise, but at 150,000 it would be very hard to explain that it's VW...

Nice package, a little pricey but their previous R32's have fetched some very nice coin as well, I don't think they will have too many issues getting rid of them.

I'm really starting to think they just artificially inflate the prices of these "builds", to try and justify gouging people for their turbo kits.

"well we claimed our built Mk5 R32's sold for $100k and we were able to sell our turbo kits for $30k.... Maybe if we claim our Scirocco is selling for $150k we can sell the turbo kits for $45k!!!"

I wonder if VW already had them certified to come in to the US but changed their mind on making it a regular in the VW lineup. They have to be coming through the same channel as all other new cars because this import would not comply with any of the regular 'one off' imports that RIV let you do.

Thats a good call. I think they have more relaxed reg's in BC for importing cars. ITs a possibility. If thats the case it would make the price tag even more of a joke!! C'mon - I mean, a real VW Fan might be willing to go to big numbers like 70 or 80 because it'll be so unique here but 150 is just ridiculous!!

I saw this a while ago, and at first I thought it was ridiculous.. but when you take into account that there is a very limited number of them and the fact that they swap in a fully built 3.2 vrtt, awd, and that a stage 2 version will go 0-60 in 3.4 seconds.. thats not that bad of a price. For someone who had the money, and wanted a car more exclusive than pretty much everything, that performs amazing, this is viable.
