My 1.8T with a bigger turbo and softwear and lots of other mods was super relaible! and even gave great milage, same goes from my brothers 1.8T, He LOVES it and has been rock solid, I dont have mine anymore but on my bros he just maintains it. When somthing small goes wrong it is fixed so it doesnt have the snowball effect, so far the most expensive thing was timing belt water pump and since then its been 40,000km of smooth sailing and oilchanges...and very minor stuff.

It really is all in maintaining the car, my brother is a neat freak so If anything is not the way it should be he stresses over it until its fixed, I think thats why his car always runs perfect.
