Mk4 Trek jetta?

Did VW do this before? the other day on memorial i saw a jetta that looked pretty stock but it had a roof rack and a trek badge on the back i forget the wheels and engine badge though..

To my knowledge there has only ever been mk3 trek editions, in fact my first dub was a 97 Golf Trek, I even still have the bike!

in my experience working at dealerships, they often get a bunch of stickers made up, slap them on some base model sedans, and sell themas something else.

example: when i worked at varsity chrysler they put a decal kit on like 20 base jeep TJ's, and sold them as "Summit Edition"

I know that SouthCentre had a Golf CL a while ago and put a "Sport" sticker on it from a Dodge or something. When I asked them what that was all about they said "How else are we supposed to sell a CL?"

i just found out from a very reliable source that the mk4 trek was a real thing. all the stuff was installed at the dealers, but it was vw sanctioned (it seems to me that I was working at Northland when they did that too! guess I should lay off the weed)

Just to clarify...

The MK4 Jetta Trek was available on 2002 VW Jetta GLS 2.0 (both Auto and 5-sp.) with Luxury Package and Cold Weather Package. It was for Western Canadian dealers only, and was installed at dealer level. It was actually a really good deal. Some dealers even put the kit on other Jettas (TDI, 1.8T, VR6), but it was intended to move the remaining 2.0s out of western stock. I sold a few of them myself. It was a great promotion. The kit included:

- Trek Badging
- Base Rack
- Crash City Barraccuda Bike Rack
- Chrome Grill Strips
- Chrome Tail Pipe Extension
- Trek Mountain Bike (custom fitted)

(EDIT: Come to think of it...it may have only been for Alberta dealers...and it was optional at that....but don't quote me...I can't remember... :mrscrewy: ...must be getting old or something. )

that sounds like the car.. it did have chrome exhaust tips, didn't get to see the grill.. had the badge, the roof rack too

It was silver, I cant remember if it was a GTi though.
