I really like the look of these schmidts, is this site any good or can i find a better price for them some where else? also, I'm new to the tuning scene, what width should i go with?

If you want an inexpensive route to get you started there's some 14" widened steelies for sale on dasdubbers.

Like Kris said, there are tons of wheels that will look good and no shortage of used around that's for sure.

16's are too big for a mk1. i would stick with 15" or less on a mk1. this forum needs more early build stuff.

im a huge fan of the ATS Classics my friend had 13" 's on a mk2 jetta looked awsome! they were kinda small for a mk2 but for a mk1 they would look really nice

I agree that 15's would look prime on an MK1. Stick with the old school look, it looks the cleanest IMO.

well, those Schmidts come in 15" as well, and i think you can get them in 4x100 as well as 5x100. I really like those Schmidts, especially if i can get em in black. My second choice would be ATS classics. I found a brake conversion kit to get bigger breaks and you need rims that are at least 15" for it to fit.

lol I posted those other wheels as options. Personally, i'm with you and think the Schmidts would look the nicest by far. and assuming the scirocco in your avatar is yours, the black schmidts would looks sexy as fcuk

yup, the rocco in my avatar is mine. i saw an online ad for it, a guy had it stored in a shed and i picked it up for $700. 1981, around 150 000 km. the fuel gauge quit and the speedometer is "optimistic" and the horn doesn't work, other than that it's fine, the previous owner was driving it to work every day. there's so many things I'd love to do to this car but it will deffinitly take time (planning on going to NAIT next sept, and school isn't exactly cheep) but i am excited!
