Mk4 suspension question

Hey,

So I've got a 2000 Golf TDI whose suspension I'd like to upgrade.

Problem is, I want minimal, if any, drop.

I've got a get of shocks/springs from a low km GTI that I can put in, but I dont know how much of an improvement that would actually be over a stock setup. I've also got the same questions for my 2003 Wagon as well, but I've got a used set of red FK's on GLI shocks that I was saving for that.

Any advice is welcome.

Stay stock if you need springs i got a set of used ones out of an 04 gti..
let me know.This city and the roads!!! i'am putting in lift kits not lowering kits.

I put GLI suspension in my 01 TDI. It is around 1' lower. The ride it improved for sure, but if you go with any lowering at all, get an aluminum skid plate. I knocked out my oil pan twice now, although, arguably, with the rocks I hit, I probably would have smashed it anyways.

if you want minimal drop yet want to improve i would say go gli/20th suspension

You're more likely to smash pans with stock springs as they are so much softer and travel farther. Eibach or H&R springs and some koni shocks would be good.

I am quite happy with the FK cupkit but I've also heard good things about the Eibach Pro-System.

dont get fk coiovers.. mine crapped out after one year and i had to buy inserts because concept1 didnt want to warranty them.. i was working so my friend bought them for me.. with MY debit card.. and the guys there said i wasnt original owner and voided my warranty.

x2 fk coils are bad, stay away from them

Yep, i'll be headin to concept this weekend to see what I can do about my fk cup kit. installed in april and the front passenger strut is already seizing. NOT HAPPY!!!

These do lower the car. I have this on my Golf. It is much better than stock, but definitely lower.

i hope they help u out.. everytime i go i have bad experiences.. theyre customer service is horrible.
if anyone wants good set of coilovers.. go to calgary autoworks its by concept1.. and get the k-sport.. they are amazing

i have the fk silverline coilovers.. i paid about 13-1400 ish after taxes. stop at calgary autoworks annd look at the k-sport.. sam or lawrence can tell you more about them. but they have the damp. adjust and are easy to adjust height. i believe for the mk4 jetta they were 1200 ish.. i cant remember.

X10 on K-Sports. I've heard nothing bad about them, only positive feedback. Best bang for the buck.

Are you upgrading to get better handling and no drop? If so, you should just put an aftermarket rear sway bar on the car and possibly strut braces. You'll get a bit better handling.

I have H&R OE Sport Springs. They lowered my TDI Sport Edition approximately .1 inches in the front and .3 inches in the rear. They make the car much more balanced and the ride is still acceptable even with 225/45R18's and they were affordable. The lower you go the worse the suspension geometry is anyway. http://www.hrsprings.com/products/springs/
