  • Toasting the Clutch

I was reversing my car (Mk4 GTI) the other week and I got stuck in some snow. I managed to get the car out but I toasted the clutch a bit. There was a lot of 'burning clutch smell', so much so i had to open the bonnet (or the 'hood' as you call it here!) and let some of the smoke and smell out. The car drives and reverses fine. But when I reverse I still get a bit of the burning smell.
    Will this go away?

                    Re: Toasting the Clutch

I know on some days when I end up sitting in traffic for hours on end I'll get home with a faint clutch smell as I walk past the front end of my car. Nothing intense just a slight whiff.
