    Re: touaregs....

The new TDI's have more room to work then the v10's, I don't think they need to be pulled out for as much, and like Derek said, I would stay away from an 2004, I think thats where the bad rep came from.
I like the air ride option, but I'm sure replacing any part would be super expensive. There must be a reason they are eliminating it from the 2010's.

I didn't think the V10's were sold in Canada.

Would like to have a ride in one of those, I bet they are torquey.

But yeah, I can imagine an engine bay that normally fits a V6, with a V-10 shoe-horned in there, I can see it being a bit snug.

They sold the V10 TDI's 2004 and 2005, not many, but they did. They have to drop the engine to change simple things like the battery cables. 10 cylinders per rev makes for very smooth power.

Can you image a $2K bill for R&R a battery cable? What was VW thinking when they decided to stick that engine in there.

            Re: touaregs....

i'll pulled the v10 out for new turbo's, oil leaks, transmission, the v8 for rear main seal, i've seen the v6 dropped and split for timing chain repairs, but you can squeeze a cylinder head job without dropping it all. i've done that. it's a modular design that makes it easier to pull it all. the "gurney" is designed for it. i can drop the v10 in just a couple hours now.

the early ones didn't have a strong enough electrical system to handle all the added loads installed on the vehicle. that's where most of the electrical issues stem from.

i've replace a couple of the air ride shocks. they are pricey. i've also done air ride control modules. they are relatively easy to work on, as far as mechanical parts go, axle shafts, wheel bearings. i think they are not cheap to maintain. v8 has a timing belt, so factor that in there also(mileage).

the v10's haul. feels like it's a car.
you probably don't like me because someone else said they didn't lol. <3
