  • Weirdness Under Light Throttle

Hi so I had my car Revo flashed this Wednesday (Revo is having a sale FYI, 20% off). 03 24V VR6 GTI, cone filter on a stick, Revo flash. Car feels really good and pulls strong ... However under light acceleration in lower gears (1-3) at about 3-4000 RPM sometimes if I try and modulate the throttle the car feels like it is bucking, not violent bucking but like it abruptly shuts off the fuel. Any way, apart from that I am pleased. Any ideas?

Hey I too have experienced the same thing you just described, it doesn't happen as often anymore, but everynow and then it does buck a little.
    I have the GIAC flash on a 24v VR6.

In reality the car did it to a lighter degree before the flash so it may just be a magnification of that. It was not a very big deal then either. Meh. maybe a 24v VR6 thing?

I am really liking it. I like the earlier torque curve and really like the pull in the higher rpms. Noticably stronger and keeps building to past 7k (where I wuss and shift). Also seems a bit louder and ranker sounding, especially the induction noise. Overall very pleased, wasn't expecting a monster or anything but it's quick. And for $300.00 all in seems a good deal.

Hey guys, I wasnt too sure of chipping my 12V VR before, but right now i'm tempted to. So just curious, which shop did you go to get that sale?

And is it a normal phenomenon to have that bucking feel after chipping?

              Thanks

Hi, I got the tune done at Calgary Autoworks and I think the sale was over the end of Dec. They are the local REVO dealer. I think at the time the price was $350ish and after 20% off and adding gst I was out of pocket $300.00 even.

I dont think the bucking I am experiencing is normal. I need to get off my ass and get someone to do some logging (I guess??) and figure out the cause (cruddy-but-not-dead MAF is no 1# suspect at the moment). But really it's not a huge deal.

As for chip/no chip? Too easy - Chip! The car is not a crazy beast afterward or anything but will you notice it and will it be more fun? Yes, for sure. The best part is that the power keeps going and going where before it would tail off near redline (which is now well north of 7K). I was waffling for a while too and let a couple of other sales pass. I just wish I had pulled the trigger earlier.
