2001 V6 B5 Passat Block Heater

Hey guys,

Parked the Passat outside last night went to fire it up to pull it into the garage, now it wont start cause it is too cold, tried jumping it, nothin.

I did some research and I have seen that they apparently didn't come with block heaters?

Anyone here have a b5 Passat and know the location of the cord or can verify that they don't have a block heater?

def no block heater.. could have an oil pan heater.. if so plug will be out of lower grill

otherwise buy an oil pan heater from ebay or crappy tire (ebay is way cheaper)

if you have decent oil it should fire up.. its fuel injected.. unless your battery is crap

Need an oil change, its 5000k old, and i haven't exactly been driving nicely, its not synthetic either.

Battery I think has never been replaced.

It has an aluminum block i believe and that would mean a definite no.

Definitely will be looking into an oilpan heater.

Got it started and in the garage, but it was in no way happy to be moving. Its no wonder we couldnt get it to roll by pushing it.....

i think they are like 150 a crappy tire but maybe cheap locally at like princess auto.. never looked tho

i just went out and my baron even started and is been sitting since friday afternoon not plugged in.. i did just change the oil tho..

i'd migrate your car to synthetic

Go to Gregg Distributors for an Alaskn oil pan heater (page Q10) or a Zerostart inline coolant heater (page Q14). Unfortunately they are only open M-F.

Also Alaskan has a battery pad heater.

I got my stick on oil pan heater from Gregs for about 75 dollars I believe. No probs, and I'm still running the original 02 battery. Installed myself in my garage in about 10 mins while doing an oil change. Just try and protect it so it doesn't get torn or damaged from ice blocks/rocks.
