  • 2001 V6 Passat Problems heater/oil

Hey guys so I am having a couple problems with the passat, basically the gauge says the car is up to heat, and it blows warm air, but when i stop, there is no heat. I have had a couple opinions on the car, I have been told it is the waterpump/thermostat, becuase there is no pressure in the system at idle(no circulation through the coolant overflow). But i have also been told it is the heater core, but we flushed it, and it is not plugged or anything and there is no coolant smell in the car.

Also they reccomended AGAINST using synthetic oils?? This is new to me, i thought it was pretty much always reccomended? Also it is 5W30 correct?

could be a coolant sensor going

and a 2.8 running synthetic 5w30 is fine!!

or the waterpump/thermostat could be culprit too

Wouldnt be the coolant sensor, cause the temp on the gauge goes to 90 and sticks to it. No matter the temp the car is blowing.

Thermostat is your problem. If the water pump took a 5hit, then the engine would have overheating problems. Thats my 2 cents!!

I say try water pump but you have hot going in and hot comming out of the heater core lines so flow not the problem , i say the air not blowing through the core . take it to george

the car should over heat if the t-stat is stuck should it not? so if its getting to operating temp that cant be it, i would say something with the heat core
