To answer your question about towing it. I think you would have to. I don't see how sending your cluster would accomplish anything. You would need to power it up somehow to be able to communicate with it too adapt the new key using the VW scan tool. And you need a working key first before adding a new key into the cluster/immobilizer I think. You might be looking at a new ignition switch with key perhaps. Its all speculation though as I have never run into a problem like this before. Let the us at the forum know how it turns out though.
Sorry if I offended you, I perhaps too should have worded that differently. MAJORITY of people that work at dealerships are useless. As goes with life, there are exceptions to everything. This is certainly one of them. Once in a blue moon, you get someone who is willing to actually work with you and help you out. Ginch is a great example of this. Only dealt with him once, but it was a good experience. I'm not even gonna start listing the bad experiences.

Vee Dubbin, once again sorry if you got offended, but thats just how it is. I'm sure you've gone to other dealerships before and gotten the same BS. Hopefully you are one of the people who helps others out.

For the OP, my only advice would be that if you are stuck to the point where the car MUST go to the dealership, try renting a flatdeck. It will probably save you a bit of money in the long run. I cant see a tow being anywhere close to cheap.

This should work, send the ecu to get chipped and get the immobilizer taken off and get a key cut,

I think Calgary Auto Works does Revo. Talk to Lawrence or Sam.

Yes Calgary Auto Works does Revo, don't think Revo does the immobilizer delete though...

Buy a chipped, immobilizer-deleted ECU on vortex?

Don't mean to be a dick. But I don't see a single piece of firm advice or fact here. Just a bunch of speculation...it appears you don't actually have any idea what you are talking about.
