  • Wobble Under Acceration

Lately my Jetta seems to have a wobble in the steering/front end. It only happens under acceleration.

Any hints as to what it may be?

Unbalanced or bent wheel is a good thing to check.

No wobble when you brake at all? Otherwise could be rotor

and now that i think about a loose wheel would wobble all the time not just under acceleration

Loose bolts usually don't wobble as much while coasting as there is not as much torque out onto the bolts.

                      Re: Wobble Under Acceration

I double checked the wheel bolts to make sure they were tight and they were.

Hubcentic rings are in place so I doubt that is it.

Hopefully it is not a seperated tire as these are my new winters that I bought last year and I would be suprised if they have 6,000 km on them.

I guess I will take the wheels off today and see what I can see. Perhaps I threw a weight and one of the wheels are off balance.

                      thanks for the input.

                        Re: Wobble Under Acceration

My suggestion is to rotate the wheels from front to back and see if anything changes under acceleration.

Also see if there is any play in the control arm bushing when you have the wheel off.

I took the front left wheel off and there was no play in anything in there. After putting the wheel back on and retorqueing the other wheels the wobble seems to be gone.

                              Weird.
